Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis suggest the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.
An important representative commented the incident made him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
