Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.
The win also indicates he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his capacity to play at the top level was over.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.
He saved 4 early break points in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, he clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
